With all the negativity in this forum (with good reason) I thought I would like to say farewell to one of my favorite planes that have given me a lot of fond childhood memories. Like many Hong Kongers in the 90's my family immigrated to Canada for fear of the 1997 hand over, while my Dad stayed in HK to make bank. Every summer we would travel back to HK on CX. I'm pretty sure it was a 747 when we were flying into Kai Tak but I remember it was an A340-300 into Chep Lap Kok. I loved the A340-300 because of the convenient 2-4-2 seating configuration which always allowed me a window seat beside my mom. But the best part was landing into Anchorage for the refuelling pit stop. It allowed me to stretch my legs and wander around an otherwise deserted place with a giant stuffed polar bear. There was plenty of time for plane spotting, this was where I first noticed P&W engines on CX 747F's rather than RR engines. Nonetheless flying on the A340-300 also seemed more like a journey compared to the non-stop flights on the 77W which feels just like what it is, a long plane ride. (This could also be due to the fact that I don't see air travel with rose tinted glasses anymore)

For all the crew members and pilots who flew that route in the 90's and 2000's I just want to say thank you for the great memories. :ok:
