Anger airport is in western France next to the river Loire. Until last year it had subsidised summer seasonal service from British Airways to London City and IG Avion to Nice

Late 2016 / early 2017 decisions were taken by the city mayor and the DGAC to stop subsidising the airport, and reduce ATC at Angers to just an AFIS service. Predictably enough, all scheduled airline service was then cancelled for summer 2017

It seems that Air France's regional subsidiary Hop have just announced weekly summer seasonal service to Bastia in Corsica. Has someone at the DGAC relented and agreed to provide full ATC service at Angers again ?

There are other small regional French airports which support scheduled services by HOP or smaller carriers but only offer AFIS not ATC.

One might suspect that the arrangement only applies to French domestic carriers and not to international operators. Equally it would be hard to imagine the likes of British Airways accepting the concept of AFIS in France.

You overlook its election time in France.
