Flying to Dubai in the near future with Emirates direct from London.

Assume that the new rules mean that we have to pack our kindles and ipads in the hold luggage, and are only allowed to take our mobile phones on board?

Certainly when travelling London, as GrahamO has said there's no change.

Chapter and verse is here:

Useful link but its the Government site rather than the carrier site and all the different carriers seem to be all over their respective shops still.

After reading all the fine print on the Emirates website it is still unclear but seems to lean towards having to pack all pooters except for the phone no matter where you are transitting to - now thinking best to play safe rather than sorry. Will obviously double check at check in desk.

Which fine print is that as I've travelled several times on Emirates to and from the UK without even the slightest interest from anyone.

Her Brittanic Majesty's Government has NOT impossed a laptop ban on ANY flight from the UK To ANYWHERE.

To the UK the ban does NOT apply to ANY flight from the UAE. NONE!

Sorry for shouting.
