(WAPA) - The Authority for Competition and the Market issued a press-release:

"The Competition Authority has launched an investigation against Babcock company Mission Critical Services Italy SpA (formerly Inaer Aviation Italian SpA), Airgreen Srl, Elifriulia Srl, Heliwest Srl, Eliossola Srl, Elitellina Srl, Star Work Sky Sas di Giovanni & Subrero C. and the Italian helicopter Association, to assess whether those firms, also through the trade association, has in place an agreement, in violation of Article 101 of the TFEU, in order for anti-competitive way to affect public procedures assignation of helicopter rescue services (Hems) and forest Fire Fighting (AIB).

In particular, from the analysis of several tenders in the reference sector, seems to emerge a pattern of participation by the applicant of such enterprises characterized by the absence of overlap in their bids and the formulation of declines on particularly low auction bases, sometimes coming to the zero.

The described hypothesized anticompetitive conduct seems to have realized also through the misuse of temporary groupings of companies, employed by the parties with the primary purpose to share-out the contracts defusing the typical competitive mechanism of a public tender.

In recent days, the Authority's officials have carried out inspections at the premises of the companies concerned, with the help of the Antitrust Special Unit of the Financial Police. The process will be completed by October 31, 2018 ".

Isn't Babcock (INAER) also in hot water over similar dealings in Chile?
