Sorry I missed the thread below. I was saying Canadians trying to get a job in China. The CAAC will not allow companies to even interview them as they won't give them a license

What about if you're born in the Middle East but are an American Citizen? Add to that of Indian descent. I haven't asked any of the contract companies the question yet but would like to know out if interest if China is an option at all.

This is affecting only China Southern at the moment, apparently something that the immigration on their province is requiring but they are working on having a waiver since aviation is a specialized job. I was told that they expect this to be resolved in the next few months.

Just to be clear...., this has to do with the work visa, not the CAAC!

Talked to a recruiter at LongReach the other day and apparently Lucky and BCA are still taking Canadians - which he thought strange as they both fall under Hainan Group.

He figured it had to do with the Province that these two airlines reside in specifically but that this ban should hopefully only be temporary.

He also thought the ban might be a reaction to something Transport Canada was or wasn't doing regarding visas...

I do know a few Chinese Airlines refuse to take anyone currently employed in the Middle East, regardless of your name and origin!
A few of us having trouble because of who we currently contract for. :ugh:

..I had to produce my bachelor degree to get the China Work Permit, and also to renew the China Work Permit, not to get the Chinese license. I think without the bachelor degree the HR Department at China Southern still has work-arounds to get you in the system.

In the summer of 2016 ICAO added Canada and Sao Tome and Principe to the list of countries with "security concerns". Other more safe countries such as Georgia, Kazakhstan, Sierra Leone and Uruguay were added to the list of countries that have adequately addressed their "security concerns".

From what I have heard this is an annual assessment made by ICAO, so provided the government entity in Canada responsible for convincing ICAO that Canada is safer and more secure then Sierra Leone does their job, maybe applicants to China will have better fortune after the fall of 2017.

I comes down to immigration and lack of control. Too many multiple passport holders from questionable countries. Who's next?

As with anything here in china, every government department has to have all its boxes ticked.. in triplicate!!. If a box suddenly appears, this time from the immigration department (good ideas club inserts a box and doesnt liaise with companies, this falls into the category that the government are trying to stop all unregulated TEACHERS teaching in china, so the work permit requires a batchelors degree now in certain areas.... removal of said box takes much longer than inserting the box due to anal retention problems), its a problem world wide but here in china to go back on something says you made a mistake and nobody will admit that! This minor blooper will take a little while
