We are moving two 737-200 aircraft from Perth Airport by road to York, Western Australia.

The aircraft will need to have the wings, horizontal and vertical stabilisers removed before loading onto the trucks.

Is there anyone here with experience in removing the wings of a 737-200?
We would appreciate any advice or assistance in this venture. A copy of the Aircraft Recovery Manual would be of assistance too.

For Further information, please see www.737-200.com.au

Many Thanks.

unfortunately the only way the wing will come off is if you get the local firies in to cut them off.
Tail ie hori stab vertical stab can be removed with difficulty so it could be re installed but wings no chance.
Good luck on your endeavors.

The lot at Brunty removed the VC10 wing for transporting it, that wasn't supposed to come off.

There is a 737-200 in a college in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, that has had its wings removed (and refitted) for transportation. So it can be done.

If you want I can ask around as several people were involved with that job.

Edit: the Trucking company posted this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mmlk7LgfsQ

Well this says they are slid into the centre wing box and secured by 1600 bolts.

Thank you Jhieminga. That is perfect as it does look like a 200 series.
I would be very grateful if you know of someone we can contact.
Thanks again.
Andrew.

NutLoose,
Interesting but, the 737-200 is was apparently built differently, the wings were never designed to be removed.
Thanks all the same, an entertaining video.
Cheers.

Not sure of the specifics, but the wings went on as a separate structure they sure could come off again. Would be a lot of work though. Engines off, landing gear off, lots of shoring up f the fuselage and wings then a lot of rivets to remove, finally the wing bolts.

Obviously never going to fly again. Who's doing the work for you?

I need to remove the wings of a B737-200 so that it can be transported by ground in trucks from the airport of Carrasco (Uruguay) to Punta del Este (also in Uruguay).
I will be very grateful if you could share your experience with me and, if it's not too much to ask, if you can send me some info and manuals.

My email adress is: [email protected]

Thank you very much!
