It has been said in the news that someone emptied a can of pepper spray down the air conditioning systems intake. Such attacks are all the rage in Hamburg at the moment, it seems...

Similar to incident at LCY (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/21/london-city-airport-evacuated-after-chemical-incident/) in October?

PPRuNe thread on that one too (http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/585990-lcy-closed-due-chemical-incident.html).

Does anyone know if the A/C system was shutdown and if so how long that took? Or was it left running to dilute and disperse what was at that time an unknown toxic agent?

And how accessible (to members of the public) are the fresh air intakes to the A/C + Ventilation systems?
Maybe something for airport security to look into????

I have heard news reports that it's perfectly legal to buy pepper spray in Germany. Any thoughts on that, PPRuners?

Yes, legal to buy and carry in Germany. It's sold as a repellent against dangerous animals - Tierabwehrspray. A number of colleagues have been caught out at UK airports...many more have sailed through security with one in their handbag oblivious to the fact it's illegal (but had their yoghurt confiscated). :ugh:
