My experience with Inaer Italy (generically, not Congo focused) is that they do things on the fly, are poorly organised and the pay is not enough to make up for it. Thus what looks like a good job in this market is highly likely to be not what was promised @ interview and many people would rather get some hours in and then leave than stick around.

By way of example, a friend of mine (who was there) said when they arrived to take the CHC work for ENi in Moz about 18 months ago, they didn't have any GSE or tooling for their 139s, they turned up with half the required number of crew, offered the CHC guys jobs (who turned them down) and offered CHC $15k for their office furniture, (they had none and no access to buy any locally - CHC gave it to the local orphanage). Their ac were also on different registrations which was the source of much mirth.

Yes that's right, they took the contract from CHC but at a really low price and they push very low the tender when Bristow was pushing for this contract too.
In any case I am sure that something at low price at the end will be more expensive or shorting expenses for Pilots or Engineer as usual.....

It's a terrible contract anyway. IIRC 5 years, no escalation and fixed fuel price! They started with 3 ac and went down to 1 within a year. bet they were happy they mobilised the ac by Antonov form Europe....... Babcock Corporate HQ must be banging their heads against the wall looking at their numbers.

hi
I am not sure Babcock is aware about many things they still fusioning.

AW4EVER

Definitively this is a shame, at the end, the staff will be under pressure for this kind of contracts, cheap on the beginning expensive at the end.....

AW4EVER, that may well be true but the important thing for people going to work there is looking for a track record of success. Inaer Italy figured out what the winning price would be, bid at that level and once they won said 'oh god how on earth do we do this for the price'. It doesn't breed confidence and it's not like they haven't done it elsewhere either. People who go and work there should do their research before accepting a job there and know they will get messed around.

But ENi love them so they'll stay afloat and with the BBK balance sheet it will be for a long time if foxmax is right about the level of oversight being applied by Corporate HQ.

You're definitively right, in fact it seems there will push for Gabon contract, and try to get out Total, I really hope it will not happen and again good companies as Bristow, Chc, or else re-back in Africa because, at least there are serious companies, in my opinion of course...
Cheers

Inaer is now part of Babcock, so try googling Babcock Mission Critical Services

Calling the main Aberdeen switchboard and asking for the commercial department would probably get a pointer in the right direction.

I write this because I've been surprise to see italian colleagues work in congo!
I've been in Congo few times and saw and discuss with those guys working there in bad conditions (Tools, Hangar, ecc.) Apparently the workload is heavy and the employee are tired there, specially the technicians who are not enough.
They operates 2 helicopters.
All is well sumarise like said nowherespecial, I'll never want to work with Inaer italy at all (now I think it's babcock MCS) they not looking professional.

Fabi, sad to see this and that nothing has changed. I heard a rumour that BBK are thinking of exiting MCS offshore completely (ie selling the offshore business) recently. It seems someone in their HQ was watching after all.

Ten years since I worked for Inaer and it sounds like nothing at all has changed. Very sad to read and hear that they are winning contracts.

But selling to who? They would never get back what they paid

They never wanted the offshore work.

Babcock International purchased Avincis for the government and SAR work; it fitted with their core business of trousering as much of the defence budget as possible, and they were planning to expand/steal the SAR markets. Having failed to achieve that, I can't blame the parent for wanting to beat a swift repeat.

Added to that, I would guess that INAER may have changed the branding to Babcock, but is still very much INAER.... take that how you wish.

Amen to that comment helicrazi. But out is the SLT direction of travel apparently.

IF babcock bought avincs for the UKSAR contract I find it a little hard to believe as they bought it after the SAR contract had already been awarded.
Which would be the most incompetent thing ever.

You do know there are countries outside the UK? When you look out to sea, there are actually other bits of land over the horizon.

Hi all,
To be honest, if BBK want to leave off shore business I do not understand why they buy Inaer, if it was only for SAR contract, they could have had enough buying Bond...
In any case, I guess Africa to them is getting worst worst and worst, at the end they will start to loose some contracts there

I have seen NHV advertising SAR co pilot positions in Spain; have they won the SASEMAR contract?

That would be a huge blow to INAER/Babcock

AW4EVER

I don't think they won the SASEMAR contract, but probably they will push for the tender, like Bristow, CHC, NHV and Babcock who knows who will win.....

Hi all,
Just to say, if anyone is going to Bcock Italy, careful, two contractors hadn't being paid for their services, even with their "companies" which for the moment I will not mention names, they didn't take care of their employees at all, many things are happening in Italy and Africa, and they are f.... up the company these italians with their fines they get from everywhere (italy, Congo.....)
But just for the community, careful with them...
