Some of the posts for predictions of what'll happen.

"Explanations to comments about January 18th conference.
- CX Join Star Alliance
Air China (CA) and its subsidiary, Shenzhen Airlines (ZH) already joined Star Alliance in 2007 and 2012. If CA became majority shareholder of CX, they could lead CX to quit oneworld.
- A New LCC
Not quite possible. There's tons and tons of LCC around Asia, which leads to lots of competition around. If CX cannot maintain well, they will eventually gave up, much like TransAsia Airways (GE) ended V Air (ZV).
Management Changes
Those are internal, but shareholders or people will participating in the conference, will eventually fire Mr. Pig (aka Ivan).
Route Changes
KA will takeover KUL for sure, some forum users even predicted they will takeover CEB and SUB. (A regional airline start to fly 777?)
Disclaimer: We are NOT linked to Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, Air China and its subsidiaries."

"why nobody guess that 18JAN strategy review is about setting up an LCC? I think it's a trend, and this can simply generate more income for CX group. And to make a diff between CX/KA and the LCC, full service (including blankets n pillows) will be offered to the mainline operations.

Another speculation from other online forum is that CX is going to leave OneWorld?"

Reliable sources say the 1.18 earthquake will kick off stages of restructuring. First group to be sacked are selected Level D Managers. Second stage involves Level C staff bidding for their own jobs. When they are not selected, they have to leave the company. Apparently the namelist for Level D Managers to be axed is already drafted. Sit back and watch the show.

"Preview/ Predict of 1/18 strategy review announcement:

1. KAISD will be merged with CXISD, back end staff will be affected. Some positions will no longer be available.
2. Current KA EY seats, amenities and service wares have been aligned with CX. KA J class service style, amenities and service wares will further align with CX, and further announcement of routes and aircrafts (A33E and A33P) transfer between two airlines.
3. KA FOP has issued crew notice regarding to adhoc operate CX TPE services. At this moment just TPE, more ports will be added in due course.
4. CX Japanese/Korean/Malaysian speaking cabin crew will be offered an internal transfer to KA with DOJ and CED remain unchanged. COS will be different as current.
5. CX Frontline ground staff will be interpreted under HAS. All ramp, check in staff will become HAS staff with HAS contract.
6. Air China will further inject capital into CX and become the biggest stakeholder."

Nobody on the 3rd floor in CX City wears red lanyards.

Sounds more like the red tie brigade across the road.
