Hard to tell from the video but seems he is missing the front wheel ?

Certainly looks like it!

Nice foam placement :-)

Yes - they said on the Channel 9 news it had lost the front wheel.

".. a foam blanket to soften the impact." Hmm.

Yes, of course. Everyone knows that a sheet of foam is bouncy, don't they? :E

I bet that faulty nose wheel caused the wings to wobble from side to side on descent, too. :E

Seems he pretty much missed the foam.

I'm only vollie firey but I am guessing the thought behind laying down the foam is to reduce the amount of friction heat and sparking that might start a fire

What happened to the front wheel?

What happened to the front wheel?
The paper notes that the wheel was damaged during a previous landing attempt.
Sounds like a bounce/porpoise that has broken it then a go-around

What happened to the front wheel?
It was a loose wheel, & it picked a fine time to leave him! (With apologies to Kenny Rogers) ;)

Interesting approach.

Seems he pretty much missed the foam.

I reckon if they hit the foam they could have been a touch bit fast and would have most likely flipped it at the end. Nearly did flip as it was after floating it.

DF - Ha ha! Top marks for that one! Better than the jokes in the Friday funnies section! :)

Those yellow Foxbats have been breeding like rabbits down at YMMB. Looks like there are about ten of them now.

The noise from the Rotax gearboxes doesn't instill confidence.

I like how the report says that he circled for nearly an hour trying to fix the problem. Must have been tricky climbing out of the cabin, dangling upside down while he tried to straighten out the nose wheel!!!

I don't know about Moorabbin but at Jandakot it can take quite a while for the emergency services to arrive and be in place so I'm guessing he was circling while waiting for them to arrive?

Great to see nobody hurt. Good practice for the firies and there will be learnings for others as well.

At least they didn't spray it into the engine...straight away...
