Its been very quiet of late with the exception of Christmas week when the Local Bear in The Air seemed to come from Barton direction, or just could have been our normal Warton one on a busy night.. but it does seem we have pretty empty skies at night nowadays..... or are all the baddies staying home?

Think that one, the Merseyside one that used to be at Woodvale and the Manchester force one have all been replaced by one at Manchester covering all 3, to save money?

Not surprised, another example of the centralise/decentralised cycle that infects all parts of government on a roughly 10 yearly basis.

Thank you Guys, from my point of view what a negative way of having the infrastructure there, and having spent big bucks to do so, and yet getting rid of the main speedy item to get eyes on far quicker than any other means, it also beggars belief that a Senior Lady Copper who flashes her boobs in a drunken argument is still raking in apprx 2Gs per week when police services are depleted in such a negative way.. Just my thoughts :ugh:

Greeting Mighty..! hope you had a good Chrissie;):ok:

I live just across the river from Warton, so would regularly see the police and air ambulance helis fly over the house on their way south from Warton or Blackpool. Not seen many since the move/cutbacks. They also used to train regularly in the Ribble estuary (missing persons search type stuff I guess) - often late at night.

Just to clear things up:
Warton are currently operating 12hrs per day - as oppose to the previous 24 hr operation. Half the crews have been moved elsewhere to support the remaining 24hr bases in the North West (Barton and Hawarden). The base is due to close completely by the 01st April this year.
