I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I just wanted to know if Virgin flight crew still work to the 750 hour annual limit rather than the 900 hours everyone else works to. I thoroughly admire VS for giving this provision to their pilots to avoid fatigue etc. but I wondered if it was sustainable given pressures from low-cost competitors and new, streamlining Delta management etc.

Although isn't this the overtime threshold - for which the company tries to limit you to - for obvious reasons. IIRC, it was recorded from 1 July to 30 Jun, so if you were only there for part of the year, there was no limit. I worked there for 15 months over 2 of these overtime years and the limit didn't apply to me, so I was working a 900 hour rolling limit. Nothing to do with fatigue management!

Thanks chaps. Just curious, Dan, if it's not fatigue management, what is it for? I mean, why did the airline ever bother to implement a 750 hr overtime threshold? Wouldn't it have been pointless without that purpose?
Also, will it last indefinitely? Just out of interest.

The Virgin contract is for 750hrs a year, to work more then that you have to volunteer.
