Good old PIA! Their director of engineering suggested they sacrifice a goat presumably for luck.

The goat was particularly unlucky as it was just getting on a flight to Is-lamb-a-baaaa-d when it's plans were changed........

As I read the story it was nothing to do with the PIA director of engineering. It was entirely the action of local employees. Just a bit more drastic than smashing a bottle of bubbly over the bow of a ship, or any of the celebrations associated with new a/c.
