Have a friend waiting to depart LCY & delayed with no announcement. Now on twitter "flights temporarily suspended whilst we carry out essential maintenance" posted about 10 mins ago.
Anyone have any insight as to what kind of maintenance & estimated duration?? Give up now or hang in there... Seems BA is already cancelling but CityJet not as yet...

They had an issue with the runway lighting this morning causing a fair bit of disruption. Putting 2 + 2 together, the lights now fading, wonder whether it's something that could be dealt with during the day but not at nightime?
I'm sure someone will be along soon to point us in the right direction!

That sounds dangerous - he might be difficult to see in the gloom. Wouldn't it be best to wait until the runways lights are working again?

Runway open again it seems.... pax kept pretty much in the dark as per usual....

Presumably due to the lack of runway lighting :}
