I heard it's illegal for Chinese carriers to hire expat FO's. Do you think in a few years once the chinese FO's are trained by the expats that they would also make all expat hiring illegal? They must be producing large amounts of cadets to keep up with such a demand...

There are a few companies which have FOs in China but I highly recommend to only come as a Captain. The upgrade is long, slow and painful here if it even ever happens. Most guys don't last that long. The cadet pilot program is alive and well in China and they normally produce a Captain from right out of college, 1 year doing license ratings and training ie private pilot, CPL etc. and type training. They then spend 4 years as an FO and upgrade is totally about 5 years time from start to finish. Chinese pilots are paid differently and not to the same standard as the ExPat Captains. China needs Captains not FO's so stay away, get your upgrade somewhere else then think about coming to China.

China desperately needs Captains for decades assuming the economy continues expanding.
