This has just been sent to the tenants of Fairoaks Airport I have underlined the key part.

The owners of the site that comprises Fairoaks have proposed it as an exemplar garden village. If approved, the proposals would see the site redeveloped as a self-contained community from mid-2018 at the earliest helping Surrey Heath Borough Council meet its need for homes, business space and community facilities, such as a school and publicly accessible parkland. The scheme would have high quality design hard-wired in from the outset.

Airport operations would cease as part of the redevelopment proposals. Should a redevelopment be permitted, those businesses on site who are not reliant on aircraft operations will be encouraged to remain and occupy the proposed new business premises, helping to create a thriving mixed use community which could lead to additional jobs on the site in the future.

The plans are in the very early stages, with the site owners discussing the principles of the scheme with Surrey Heath Borough Council. To qualify as a garden village, the scheme would have to meet strict criteria including:

• The site comprising of previously developed land
• Any new development being of high quality design
• Demonstrating financial viability and deliverability
• Providing for its own infrastructure
• Being away from other settlements

Prior to a planning application being submitted, the team will be undertaking a comprehensive consultation process, starting early next year, to develop and incorporate the garden village principles into a masterplan. Fairoaks Garden Village Limited will provide details of upcoming consultation events in the New Year.

We recognise that there will be a number of queries regarding the proposals and we will be arranging tenant meetings to be held on site in the near future and will send details shortly

Grim reality is that London region GA at the likes of Fairoaks and Redhill is at the whim of the land owners and property developers. Whose next? How safe are Elstree and Denham?

Move everything to Wisley airfield just down the road. Don't think the commonland it's on (Wisley, not Fairoaks) can be redeveloped for housing unless the airport infrastructure is removed, i.e. the runway and aprons etc. - so leave it and use as an airfield again. Simples

(if only it were so...)

Plenty of development proposed up the road at EGLK! (pity the decent hangars were lost into the BCA site)

The locals at Wisley preserve the public rights of way across the runway with armco barriers but there should be enough room at the west end for a runway of about 800m.

You can always write to local MP, Michael Gove and tell him that this is all down to flippin Brexit, it's his fault so he needs to deal with it. Would be interesting to see what responses you get.

if you are opposed to this why not just suggest to Surrey Heath Council that they meet their commitments to new homes by using all the land available (ie not built on) in Windlesham. you will find their zeal to meets targets evaporates when building in that ward is proposed -not that its anything to do with money or where the leader of the Council lives of course.

Garden village of course means a gated development of semi mansions in the context of where Fairoaks is but of course EGLF is just down the road for the corporoate jet so that takes care of transport needs.

As for Michael Gove, the local MP, -a busted flush really, the Conservatives are not keen on treachery and so any influence he had in Government circles is long gone.

Like for instance the land presently occupied by the white elephant called 'Updown Court'; re-developed some years ago for a rumoured £75M - yes 75 MILLION pounds - and never lived in but popular with film makers as a location.
