Scotland's Skyscanner sold to Chinese travel giant Ctrip for £1.4bn (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2016/11/24/scotlands-skyscanner-sold-chinese-travel-giant-ctrip-14bn/)

I wasn't sure where to put this, so here it is. I've used them before, as well as others and in most cases it seemed to be a pleasant experience, especially for multiple flights. How on earth is a £120million turnover a year business worth £1.4Billion to a suitor ??? I've often wondered how any of the various price comparison websites in all sectors make enough money to survive, as they're seemingly all much of a muchness…Yet here's the mother of all buyouts suggesting that that's not the case.

I'm guessing that the company have got other irons in that fire. Chinese tourism is expanding VERY rapidly and I have already seen Chinese companies putting, hotels, tour companies and airline groups together to provide an end-to-end service. With their language complications, this works better for them.

At least they have some tuenover - not sure about profits tho

Stock market (= casino) is looking to turn a buck - Amazon had profits of $857 mm on turnover of $ 30.1Bn = 2.8%. The idea is that IN FUTURE they will be in a pseudo monopoly position and will be able to screw their customers as per Microsoft or Apple..........

Yep: and indeed most had none as they had yet to generate earnings.
