What? I thought all of the A's were being converted to L's. ?
The plan, revealed by U.S. Richard Blumenthal (Democrat of Connecticut) and confirmed to R&WI by the Pentagon, calls for refurbishing 53 Sikorsky UH-60As divested from the U.S. Army inventory within about two years. Pork it is.

In this report it states that the Blacks Hawks will be upgraded before delivery, presumably to the L standard with some Afghan-specific mods.

I was thinking sand filters and the like, but you're right that this does have a feel of deja-vu and inevitability about it.
