Does anyone know where in Australia you can do training to get your E9 exclusion removed? Is it still a matter of filling out the old SOE and sending it through to CASA? I'm hoping there might be a quicker way...

You have to fill out your SOE mate.

RTO's wouldn't even know what your talking about. Even piston engines are beyond their scope.

I guess that's why they have kept the old system running...

RooDog, To get rid of the E9 you need to complete MEA357. Please contact Tafe SA as they had a Full B1.1 LAME clear his E9 thru them.
This B1.1 LAME built a wooden wing, covered it with fabric and carried out repairs to the fabric. He purchased certified aeronautical products to do this. The only place left in Australia that can sell Polyfiber products is in Perth. The Melbourne place stopped selling.
So at present, the only way for a B1.1 lame to remove E9 is by doing MEA357. Contact Tafe South Australia.
Aviation Australia have been thinking about a E9/E10 course for 2yrs now and done nothing.
Good luck.
