Good evening folks, not sure if im posting in the right section or not. My question being, why is there no direct flight between Melbourne and Santiago Chile which is a distance of 11301kilometers, but yet when i try to book a flight it wants to take me to Dubai as a stopover, which is 32 hours long ? Could someone please explain this to me. Its the same as Brasslia, Buenos Aries, Lima, Australia to South America is a hop across the Pacific but they want to take you on a flight all over the globe, Thanks

Qantas 747-400 from Sydney, Lan Chile 787 from Sydney, plenty of flights Melbourne to Sydney.
If you really need to go Emirates then it will be via Dubai.
