He was researching Chaplin Moses Maurice WAUGH accidentally killed 18 Feb 1945 at Lae.

I am also researching the Chaplin and trying to find out how the accidental plane crash occurred. There were other people killed on the ground with the same accidental crash but no information on accident. The American pilot was flying a P-38J.
