For those who like me are nostalgic for the Delta-winged Bomber, Andy Leitch and his colleagues have reworked their site Vulcans in Camera (http://www.avrovulcan.org.uk/) to great effect. Well worth a visit for inside out coverage of the great beast.

Thanks for the gen Blacksheep. Great site. Although an old Victor man myself, its good to see so many 'real' shots of the 2nd best of the V bombers. :D :D :D

RFCC do you know of any good web sites for the Victor? My son acquired a bang seat from a Victor for his militaria collection last year, but has struggled to find much online about the aircraft – every thing ‘V’ seems to be about the flatiron. I got a bit of info from a post on the mil forum last year, but we still don’t have that much. Would be especially good if I could locate a pic of the actual aircraft – XH593. Cheers!

Here's another but I haven't found anything to match the Vulcan site.

BFU,

I have a scanned photograph of 593, from a book, if you wish to email me.

Thanks for the links :) I had already found those sites and had my fingers crossed that there may have been one that Google had missed.

The acquisition of the bang seat prompted some research into an aircraft that seems to have been (unfairly??) overshadowed by the Vulcan. It must have been a fantastic aircraft to fly - any reminiscences out there?

Hi-jacking this thread a little, for those of you who haven't already found them, there are some good Victor tales here: http://www.redsaway.co.uk/Tanker-tales.htm

I have private 8mm film footage of the Vulcans "tour" of Africa, does anyone know of a good place to get this footage put on video?

Claw - give [email protected] an email. I'm sure he'd be interested; he's already put out a video of a Vulcan proggy made by, I think, Yorkshire TV.

Claw, if you want your 8mm on video for private use, Jessops do it - I've a load of family 8mm reels and did enquire several years ago and they said yes, but I've never actually got round to it. They might also put it on CD I suppose.

Two of my reels are marked "LAP" which I take to mean London Airport and is dated early 50s and the other is "airshow"; as my family lived around Birmingham at the time I'm hoping for some Lockheed Trophy footage...!!!!

Damien and Treaders, many thanks!

I'll give Jessops a go. Apart from the Vulcan pic's, the footage of the trip to see them is good. First in a dug-out cannoe and then a bumpy ride in a Dak!?! :D
