How many of you professional military aircrew, flying missions perhaps over Iraq or some other hot spot, are informed or concerned about Tone's plans to sign us up for the ICC? George Bush says he wont put US servicemen in the path of someone's political agenda and make his men vulnerable to the jurisdiction of this new court. Tone has few such qualms. Is he right? Is he being pushed along by Cherie, the left-wing brains of the pair? Are you being informed by your chain of command? What do you guys think.:eek:

Like I said, this is or should be a hot issue for professional aircrews. If you have never heard of it, you should become better informed. If you are just a plain old cynic, or a Daily Mail reader, you'll obviously know all there is to know.

Either way, if a bomb goes astray, or a fuel tank jettisons on somebody's house, look out for a summons to appear before the ICC.

If you wanted to complain, perhaps you should have done so a year ago. The UK was the 13th country to ratify the ICC treaty and formally signed on the 4th of October 2001.

Since you did'nt, and were not even aware we had already signed, may I suggest you stop trying to stir up dissent amongst the armed forces against a legally signed treaty.

Whilst it may be right that all serving should be aware of laws that can affect them (the scribbleys have been using that as an excuse to deny our rights for years), in my day ICC meant gaining the privilege of sitting in the left-hand seat of a mighty Omo white, bucket of sunshine dropping machine and being able to count FIRST PILOT TIME (Half of). My point though is that using initials really only means something to the person who uses them. So to explain, in this context ICC means Intermediate Co-pilot Course.

Does this also mean that if El Tone or MOD send us brave/foolish aircrew to our death in the Service of our country and without the right tools for the job, our families can take El Tone/their airships to court?

It's yet another lovely idea for those who imagine the enemy is equipped with fluffy bunnies operating AAA.

In reality, if a bomb were to go amiss, you'd have lots of scope to counter-sue Tony et al who chose to buy the cheapest bombs.

Perhaps one day war will get too complicated and nobody will bother to take part cos of the legal stuff that will follow - hey, could be a master plan for world peace :)

Personally I think the sooner the leadership took responsibility back and stopped palming it off on 'those following orders' the better. Indirectly, it's an own goal....

Its a pity I hadn't read the link to JB, but then I'm a fairly new subscriber. You obviously have the liesure / inclination to keep up to date on these legal matters, I'm just working aircrew. Its been a long time since I did an adavanced staff course and had the time to look at this sort of issue. However, my concern is genuine, and I am not out to ferment unrest. Perhaps instead of jumping to conclusions you could take your arrogant opinions and ram them.

i thought it stood for international cricket council! but seriously its a nice idea to make people feel that nasty people like osama bin laden and saddam will get their just desserts. i have a feeling that the icc could end up being as politicised as the red cross. what is the difference between the icc and the court in the hague thats currently trying milosevic? is this another junket for lawyers like cherie blair/irvine/falconer etc?
