I'm writing a simulation/game where a player could pretend to start up his own air charter company.

I don't want it to get to tedious but my first question is how much should a person have in money if they would want to open a one person air charter company with one small SEP plane? I'm not talking Netjets I'm thinking more in the line of roseair.com From what it looks like, it's one woman and her C182, yes?

The game would allow players expanding their fleet and building FBO's etc and basically trying to make their company survive.

I've already developed game mechanics to generate jobs based on how much the company advertises, etc. It even includes possibilities the longer the player plays the game you can build a clientele that will stay with you etc.

So you would have the cost of plane and tons of paper work.

The game would assume that the player would have all the required licenses and ratings. From what I've been reading you would have to get your ATP correct?

so how much would a person need after the appropriate licences and ratings? The cost of the plane, insurance, etc?? Would $500k be enough or would you need more?
If someone could get me started that would really help.

Hi There,

Depends on new or used. If used then for a C182 Id budget $150-180 for a good one and New around $450k USD. Insurance at say 2-5% depending on pilot experience. Then working capital of say $50k to get you going with hangar rental, engineering and wages , unscheduled maintenance and misc items.
