Dear all,
I'm an Indian CPL holder, on a current scenario is it advisable to do a self sponsored A320 rating?
Following points are urging me to go for a self sponsored rating:-
1.air India published 450 vacancy and heard from my source that they gonna come up with more in near future.
2.vistara and airasia going to expand rapidly, due to the change in 5/20 to 0/20...
Your valuable suggestions are highly appreciated
Thanks

Honestly do what you want man, its a hit or a miss. You can get an a320 rating and get a job or you can get a job without a a320 ratings when they open it up to CPL holders. It's mostly luck or knowing someone. Also, if they open up ATR, 737 and other positions you're screwed because you already spent money on a a320 ratings.

Thanks for your opinion.

Run, I personally know people who have a320 types and job offers from a certain blue tailed operator of the a320 in India... they got themselves a nice shiney type ratings last year, and still they are sitting idle.

With huge debts, a not current type on a plane that they were barely taught how to fly and still no job. Just a weak promise of a call up date and constant mental trauma as they are up to debt to their earballs and there is no real end in sight, just empty promises of a call up date (they do get call up dates, but then its cancelled due to operational reasons) and not a penny from that operator. Although they did get a Rs50 000 per mth offer of a salary, but you had to pay it back when you started working !!

Its fine to pay for a A320 rating.

Problem is employers will want at least 500h on type, not only the small piece of paper. So where are you planning to accumulate the 500h before aplying to the other airplines?

Just make sure you have dont your home work before you pay the money...

Good luck!
