RAF still use Deci or any other NATO nation ?

I know Deci was busy place and range , bar it was very popular posting but do we still use it? There was a RAF det back in the 80s to look after the visiting FJ crews et al.

DECIMOMANNU. In the next hours it will become a political case. The air force farewell of Germany, the Luftwaffe, becomes official. Within the year, the German stellette disappear from the base. The last hope for those who want the base are political agreements last minute. Men and planes will go away from the hotel where they will continue to be redeployed to the Italian Air Force aircraft. The military airport loses another piece: after the Canadians, the Americans, the British, leaving the airport, used for instructional cycles of the pilots, even the Germans who are in the base since 1959. After 57 years will share staff and resources for the Germany.

Today the structure is maintained economically with the division to 50% of the costs between Air Force and the Luftwaffe in September 2009 that they had made in the presence of the then secretaries of the Italian Defense Giuseppe Cossiga, and German Rudiger Wolf, the agreement that stretched for the cooperation between the countries three years. A renewed international understanding at the highest level in February 2013, for the use of the experimental department structures and standardization to air shot.

Now the agreement has come to an end with the consequent economic management problems, which will fall entirely on Italy, and personal contraction. A situation that was already lived, but not so heavily, in 1998 when they were based only on Love and Luftwaffe after the abandonment of Britain, with the Royal Air Force (RAF), in Sardinia for 26 years. Then the award of costs was 45% for the Luftwaffe, 25% for the RAF and 30% for Ami.

The abandonment by the Germans Sardinian instructional polygons, as well as the structures that house the headquarters command and crews of the departments that are redeployed cyclically about two weeks each, have raised concern among the trade unions and the civil employees who work in the base. While in recent months there have been protests by anti-militarists and pacifists who have asked, however, for the closure of the military base.

We were closing down the RAF facilities in 1997 when I was at 1 Group. We used it as a FOB (if my memory serves me right) when we conducted operations against the Former Yugoslavia in 98 but the whole operation was closed down.
In 1982, was there with XV Sqn and as young fg off took the bolloc&ing from the Stn Cdr for the havoc caused by the team on their last night on site after a 3 week APC. Eddie was in the back of his Bucc on his way home and I had to debrief him on my return to Laarbruch on the VC10. Happy days

Or the Quadriplegic Club? I recall when the Italian SDO appeared with The Book of Rules following a rather robust version of 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm' performed by the 56(F) Sqn 'choir'. Immaculate in full uniform, sash and a little pistol looking rather like 'allo 'allo's Capitano Bertorelli. Only to be set upon by our jovial Anglo-Indian navigator who relieved him of his pistol, checked it was empty, pointed it at himself and yelled "OK - nobody moves or the n****r gets it!"

One of the Jag :ooh: squadrons had a very nice SqInt-ess. Conscious of keeping up the boys' morale, she went to the PX with their driver to get some cold drinks. Spotting some 'adult' magazines, she gave the driver some lire and asked him to get them for the chaps whilst she stood by the door trying t keep a low profile. When he went to pay, there was also the tax to be paid. So he turned to the SqInt-ess and called out in a loud voice "Excuse me, ma'am, you haven't given me enough money!" The rest of the shop thought it was hilarious, as she turned bright pink, gave him more lire and rushed out.

Waking up hung over and walking down the corridor at night to get some water to slate my severe hangover thirst from the chiller, filling up a cup in the dark then throwing it down my neck to find someone has replaced the water with Deci Red!

Deci is still alive and kicking. I was there last week and ALL the accommodation was full. Not too many aircraft there, mind you. The Germans will be there until the end of next year, I believe.
