Reports of a Single flipped over near Albany WA. Pilot and passenger ok.

Two people are lucky to have survived an emergency landing of a light plane in Western Australia's Great Southern region, according to police.

The pilot radioed he was in trouble near Muirs Highway, five kilometres west of Mount Barker near Albany, late on Sunday afternoon.

He made an emergency landing on private property, with the twin-seater flipping upside down before skidding to a halt.

The pilot and a female passenger managed to free themselves and walk away from the wreckage as it was leaking fuel.

Paramedics said they were amazed the couple were not hurt in the crash landing.

They were taken to Albany Hospital for a check up as a precaution.

Firefighters doused the plane in foam.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it was seeking more information before deciding if it would investigate the crash landing.

Looks like KLV, an RV9a :-)

Mods:

Title of this thread is plain wrong. Can you amend it please?

Aircraft is VH-KLV, a Vans RV-9A, owned by a local PPL. Both pob are ok, but KLV looks to be in bad shape.

Inevitable that a forced landing will end in a flip over because the country here is very wet and soft. Local RV owners are unable to use their farm strips.
