Hello everyone. U.S. pilot with E.U. Passport looking for employment with Norwegian. Lots of questions...
I have lots of time (15,000 hrs almost all jet), 7,400 B737 SIC, but only RJ PIC time (~3,500). What type and seat can I apply on?
What bases are likely?
What's the pay?
Roster?
Training, where, how long, paid?
Capt Upgrade, how long? Possibility to be hired in the left seat?
More questions but those are the main ones.
Thanks!

It does not says in your post, but first step in this direction will be to obtain EASA ATPL which involves 14-15 theory exams that cannot be avoided...

You are correct, I didn't say and I don't have it. I would take it and hopefully pass it if I decided to get serious about trying with Norwegian. I guess I'm still in the phase of gathering information to see if I would really want to try

With your experience you could aim much higher than Norwegian and T&C will than be much better as well, so I am sure that it will get tempting and attractive... Contact e.g. BristolGS as they offer online tuition for ATPL easy and convenient and take it from there... there are EASA schools in USA too maybe something convenient to you...

sbg007,

Here you go...not sure what seat you're pondering but this'll get you in the neighborhood. I've seen pay quoted somewhere but now I can't find it again:

First Officers B787 US, FLL - OSM Aviation Group (http://osmaviation.com/job/contracted-first-officers-b787-us-fll/)

You OK with this part ? I don't see a dollar figure:

Thanks Zondaracer, appreciate the figures. Presuming $11,100 gross and one looses 35%-39% to various taxes you are looking at $7,215 to $6,771 NET and with no pension or bonus this will definitely be one of the lowest paying left seat job anywhere in the world.
Does anyone have a more accurate NET figures after all the taxes?
Also what about medical coverage?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Regarding the 787 contract, does anyone know what the NET pay is for LGW based Relief Captain?
Also...
Are the 10days off a month guaranteed at your home base (LGW for example), or can/do they roster them down route?

Is car parking and uniform paid for?

What is the expected time to upgrade from Relief Captain to Captain?

Thanks

I believe NI payments will be made in UK and taxes will paid where you live, so impossible to say what your net pay will be. In some EU countries you can deduct taxes if you are married, have children, real estate loans etc etc.

This calculator will give you a rough idea though:

Uk taxcalculators (http://www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk/)

Basically on £100K taxable income (just as an example) you would be paying just over £5000 NI employee contribution. That leaves £95K to be taxed in your home country. In my case, based on £100K gross, that would leave me with about £5300 / €6400 net. Coincidentally, in my case, that would be almost exactly the same if I lived in the UK.

Hey guys anyone have upto date info on the 5 online tests for 787 left seat?

Is it possible to go in and do the example questions and then do it at a later date or once you launch test you are committed to doing it? Reason I ask is I can see 5 tests but not sure which is which so wanted to do the easy ones first..

Ive subscribed to the latestpilot jobs site and working on the examples there, how similar are these to actual tests??

Any advise on preparing for these is most welcome :-))
