RIP indeed, thanks for helping me understand a sort of sideways humour.

About to watch Silver Streak in his memory. Fair Skies Mr. Wilder.

Such a funny guy.
I loved his films with Mel Brooks, but my kids loved his Willie Wonka film.

Introduced my kids to non politically correct humour too, via blazing saddles. They still love it.

Here'sa clip from Blazing Saddles.

RIP, the Waco kid. You'll be missed here.

And another.

Some out takes from Young Frankenstein.

They must have had masses of fun making these films. What a life!

First saw him in Bonnie and Clyde. I think this was his first appearance in a feature film. I stand to be corrected if this is not so. Immediately thought that this was a great talent. Somehow he seemed familiar although I had most probably never seen or heard of him before. A funny man.

Made one of my favourite films of all time - The Producers. I could watch that over and over again.

I hope he has his blue blanket with him.

The Producers is still funny and relevant today, but it's amazing to think it was made when it was.

In Blazing Saddles, his matter-of fact descriptions of Mongo just crack me up every time:

Well, Mongo ain't exactly a "who". He's more of a "what".
Oh no, don't do that, don't do that. If you shoot him, you'll just make him mad.

I admit to having a soft spot for young frankenstein and his double act with Marty Feldman, therefore

"Igor!" "Frodrick!"

Inga: Werewolf!
Dr. Frankenstein: Werewolf?
Igor: There.
Dr. Frankenstein: What?
Igor: There, wolf. There, castle.
Dr. Frankenstein: Why are you talking that way?
Igor: I thought you wanted to.
Dr. Frankenstein: No, I don't want to.
Igor: [shrugs] Suit yourself. I'm easy.

Some other comedians had the sort of facial expressions that showed they were telling a joke, Wilder just looked innocent and normal but his script and delivery meant you listened to every word he said.

Rest well Sir, you will be missed

Was just watching Young Frankenstein the other day. Sad news. Must dig out Blazing Saddles for a viewing.

30th Aug 2016, 17:26
With all the great movies he did with Mel Brooks and classics like The Producers and Silverstreak, I was disappointed that every headline I saw regarding his passing referenced Willie Wonka :ugh:.

Great actor, he will be sorely missed. I think I'll go home and watch The Producers tonight. Then sing "Springtime for Hitler" :E

"I owe three hundred dollars"

Ah "The Producers", brilliant
