Triumph cars are not a motorcycle, they are aiming for a target speed of more than 376mph

I have always been much more impressed by land speed records by real surface vehicles rather than jet aircraft and rockets masquerading as surface vehicles.

Not quite as fast as the Triumph but one of the better motorcycle related films I've watched is "The world's fastest Indian".
A low to mid budget New Zealand made film staring Anthony Hopkins and a film which I feel didn't get the praise that it deserved.

I think the Kawasaki H2R is a lot more impressive than a one off streamlined special. For a start you can buy an R Version on Kawasaki's H2 for around £40k, it's capable of 250mph and does 0-250mph in 26 seconds, now that's impressive engineering.

You'd never get me astride one of those things.
At that speed I want to be quite a bit further away from the planet.

It doesn't even look anything like a motorbike! It looks more like a rocket driven by 2 motorbike engines!
My hat would go off to someone riding a regular design motorbike, none of this modification that removes any semblance to a motorbike.

Well, a rocket with 2 Rocket's engines;)

But these blokes do over 200mph - on regular design motorbikes - on normal rural roads - in the rain - and often on one wheel, as well!!

Now, that's real risk-taking, if ever there was any!

I often wonder if these risk-takers ever think about the impact on those required to 'pick up the pieces' when things go horribly pear-shaped. Are they contributing to the PTSD suffered by emergency service workers?

Nah - they're used to it.
The IOM emergency vehicles even carry a Gerni to hose the bits off the scenery.

I can just see it now: 274 miles an hour and a little old lady, peering through the steering wheel pulls out in front of you . . .

Balls. Of. Steel.

Can still remember going to the IOM for the first time, TT practice week. Scared the you know what out of me. Got driven (normally) round the bottom part of the circuit in a car, then told how fast the bikes go there..... unbelievable.
What tickled me was that every gate post, telephone box, etc had a big straw pillow gaffer taped to it........ As if it'll help when you hit it at nearly 200mph.

Have a search on YouTube for Mark Higgins doing the course in a rally Subaru.. couple of years ago there's one where he's doing a test run with a journalist in the passenger seat. At the bottom of Bray Hill it hits a manhole cover, bottoms out and tank-slaps up the road. At around 140mph .....amazing car control not to hit the walls /houses either side of the road.
