Was it a Qantas 747, that operated the flight from Rio to Sydney yesterday?
What was the flight number and aircraft call sign?
It was a 744 ER - VH-OEG
Came via Santiago as QF6032.
Technical types were sporting their shiny new uniform!:D

It was possibly VH-OEJ which flew to Rio as QF 6001 (The Qantas Source)

Why did it go from San Francisco to Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitz(SCL/SCEL), and not direct to Rio?
Do the crew get to bid for those flights or are they assigned?
Technical issue forces Qantas to send another plane to collect Olympians (http://www.news.com.au/sport/olympics/sports-life/qantas-olympic-plane-in-workshop-as-athletes-return-home/news-story/8c9fea45e728d8840ef318e3d4c96630)

How did the athletes go through customs, or was the plane dragged over from international?

I'm all for naming aeroplanes but the seeds of this confusion were sown long ago.

Fris,
Were these names true or the figment of the imagination of a NewsCorp writer?

Sorry should have been clearer. These names were used in the article referenced in post #7.
