Dare I say...poetic justice

Rio mugger shot dead by Russian diplomat with own gun close to Olympic torch relay (http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/rio-mugger-shot-dead-by-russian-diplomat-with-own-gun-close-to-olympic-torch-relay/ar-BBvhgMI?li=AA59G2&ocid=spartandhp)

What's the bet that the diplomat (a Brazilian) shot the mugger, not with the mugger's gun,but with his own gun ?

Russia denies official shot attempted robber dead in Rio - 9news.com.au (http://www.9news.com.au/world/2016/08/05/08/00/russian-vice-consul-shoots-thief-dead-outside-rio-athletes-village)

Just in case he link does not work

The Russian embassy in the capital Brasilia issued a statement saying that "no representative of the Russian consulate general in Rio de Janeiro was involved in an attempted assault ending with the death of the suspect."

The statement said all diplomatic employees were Russian citizens "with Russian names, which is not the case" in the reported assault.

The media accuracy is highly suspect, as always. Even the OP's newslink states the attempted-robbery victim is a lawyer who works at the Russian consulate.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to disarm an armed assailant - despite the number of YouToob videos showing it's a piece of cake.
You need to have a foolish robber who places the weapon within arms reach of you - which is what very few armed robbers will do.

Why are the Russians even bothering with a statement. Armed mugger (presumably without any qualms in using weapon) gets shot dead. So what? End of story, move on.

Does it matter whose Gun killed the Mugger....actually an Armed Robber....not a Mugger.

He got more than he sought....which is a good thing!
