OK, I know everything in aircraft engineering is different and never what it seems. I have spent a small fortune on number drills, air tools, torque wrenches with ridiculously small ratings, cable tension and crimp gauges not to mention riveters.

Then there are the rivets, wire, switches, instruments and incidentals...

None of this stuff is available in Australia, it all has to come from the USA.

Which brings me to the subject of wire crimping. I now have about five crimpers.

....but I now find one electrical connector that requires three terminals and the crimper and dies sell for about $2000.00!

I think I Am going bush mechanic or solder. Does anyone know of an electrical LAME who will even talk to a builder?

Specifically which crimper/terminal are you trying to sort out? High density D sub?

these reduce crimping and soldering, to a minimum, well, removes soldering altogether.

also, the good thing with decent tools, you will always be able to sell them to the next builder.

AMP high amperage. I guess I'll ask Wal. Maybe there needs to be a builders forum for Australia, or if there is, I haven't found it.

Do you have the part number or a link to the terminal/crimp/tool. I might have what you need amongst the many many tools i have...

I carry a set of mini DMC crimpers and turrets . Bought a set from Edmo in Australia, I think that crimpers were close to $650 and turrets about $60 each. There is 3 main turrets I use and the company supply the rest for me. The low Australian dollar is flogging us all.

I bought my Butt Splice crimpers from Jaycar , the real heavy Chinese pliers are good performers.

"Does anyone know of an electrical LAME who will even talk to a builder?"

I guess that depends on how the builder talks to the LAME...

Hey Sunfish, clear out your message box.

I found some crimpers that should do the job for you.
