Friends on the Easy jet flight into EGMC yesterday from Palma said that there was a violent wing down (flip ) on the Aitbus A319 causing great concern amongst the pax and attendants , although no announcements were made by flight crew. Any ideas what would have caused this (CAT seems unlikely for just one wing to flip ?) .

If it was very sudden, very short in duration and quite abrupt then it could have been the wake from an another aircraft. It happens occasionally depending on a range of factors.

All I can think of is how would anyone know it was just one wing? You can't get a good view of both wings from within the cabin at the same time.

It was probably a non event. Passengers have a habit of over dramatising and can make a normal flight out to be a close shave with death when in reality there was never anything wrong.

I think your friends would be dead if only one wing flipped down since they are joined to the same structure. One wing flips down =it comes off=both flip down =they both come off

So all that can happen is the aircraft -all of it suddenly rolls right or left , wake turbulence, convective activity-a lot of that about in these big clouds at the moment or maybe the crew had to make a bit of a sharper turn than usual for traffic reasons or ATC vectoring
