View Full Version : U.S.A.F. crash near R.A.F. West Raynham in the 50's

In the late 50's I recall an aircraft from R.A.F. Sculthorpe (U.S. base) crashing in woods very adjacent to Raynham. There were stories of the aircraft actually hitting t.v. aerials as it went over the A.M.Q.s All on board were killed and I recall all ranks wearing Best Blue the following day. (Ex patch brat if you were wondering).
Any one know about this?

That sounds like the crash I remembered.
I doubt that the Group Captain was driving the fire engine but you never know!
On the other hand, the description of the crash site is as I remember, despite being only 7 years old at the time.
