Hi all,

Currently going through the online course for Part 107 on the FAA Safety website.

With regard to the requirement that Part 61 holders have a current flight review in order to be eligible for the online course (instead of the UAG written exam), is the BFR a precondition for the course, or for certificate issue?

In other words, if the course is completed (certificate printed) on July 1, the BFR completed on July 2, and the applicant goes to the DPE/CFI on July 3, is that acceptable?

Looking through this:

http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_107-2.pdf

6.3 Eligibility

Pass the initial aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center (KTC). However, a person who already holds a pilot certificate issued under 14 CFR part 61, except a student pilot certificate, and has successfully completed a flight review in accordance with part 61 within the previous 24 calendar-months is only required to successfully complete a part 107 online training course, found at www.faasafety.gov.

6.4.2 Applicants with Part 61 Certificates

Instead of the process described above, a person who holds a part 61 pilot certificate, except a student pilot certificate, and has completed a flight review within the previous 24 calendar-months may elect to apply using the following process:

Complete the online course (Part 107 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), ALC-451) located within the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) Web site (www.faasafety.gov) and receive a completion certificate.

So this suggests the flight review is a precondition for the course.

Just checking what everyone else thinks...

I would read that as if you are a current pilot (with regards to the flight review and not 90 day currency) then you can take the online course and drone on. It says (1) If you hold a pilot certificate above the the student level and (2) if you have completed a FR in the past 24 months THEN you can use the online course to get the drone certificate.

Concur with MarkerInbound.

The statement is in the form of "If A and B, then you may elect..."
