Exactly the same thing happened to me while driving a pickup truck.

That was close!

When I was fifteen or so a mate and I rode our bikes from Ticlio, a railway station 15k' feet in the Peruvian Andes, to Lima on the coast. 1960 and only the bottom part of Peru's Central Highway was paved. Even on the unpaved part we'd reach pretty frightening speeds but, of course, we were immortal back then. What I don't remember is ever having learned to whoop as we dodged llamas and other traffic, perhaps because whatever control over our vocal cords might have been available, was fully occupied controlling our sphincters.

Edit: our "bikes" were bicycles and gravity did most of the work.

But you really don't want to hit a moose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpgQ4LUIA9E
That's why we have signs on our northern highways saying "HE DOESN'T LOOK BOTH WAYS" with a picture of the animal.

Had he hit the moose the biker would have resembled a strawberry mousse on the tarmac.

A German motorcyclist was killed last week here in Norway when he hit a moose. Nasty, tall, heavy beasts.
