I was having lunch in London yesterday at a pavement cafe just off Carnaby Street around 1300. I could hear an aircraft powered by what sounded like two rumbling radial engines performing some sort of display over, what I assume, was the Thames but I couldn't see it because of the surrounding buildings. Do any of you out there know what it was?

Looking on FR24, Seneca G-BABK was orbiting the area at around 1345, the IO-360s do sound a bit radial-ish I guess.

Thanks for that; at street level it sounded more like a pair of Wright, P&W or even Hercules engines at low power. Mind you, my ears have seen better days (no pun intended).

Probably get some good echo effects from the surrounding buildings!

I was in a meeting at Hatton Garden a few years ago and was almostconvinced a DC-6 had flown over; to be honest I still am!

Incidentally, I presume Capitol Radio no longer does its Flying Eye rush hour traffic jam spotting service? I know the original Flying Eye Seneca is now being flown by a Flying School out of Biggin Hill. (I am a Radio Four man these days!)
