I'm currently studying my ATPLs whilst considering the various schools I where could complete my CPL,IR,MEP.

Obviously you consider price, duration, accomodation, location, past student employment rate etc etc.

However, I'm wondering what are the not so obvious questions I could be asking. For example, I read about a school, that will remain unnamed, that had been criticised for brisking through some of the navaid training in the IR phase.

There will always be criticisms as no ATO is perfect. Although, can anyone advise if there are anything less obvious but, important things I should be thinking about when considering schools?

You have covered most of the important considerations already, but also think about availablity of aircraft and instructors - if you can only fly twice a week, it will cost you more in the long run. Also consider what type of training environment will get the best out of you as we all learn better when we feel comfortable.

It may be obvious, but the quality of your training will impact to only which jobs you get, but your career progression as well. I have heard stories from airline crew of new recruits coming with glowing reports, great CRM etc, but whose careers have been short-lived because they lack basic flying skills.

Feel free to PM me for anything else.
