Mac to PC file transfer

A friend, who is a Mac user, has loaned me a "WD My Passport hard drive for Mac", loaded with lots of feature films.
Can anyone recommend a way of converting the files so that I can view them on my PC or smart TV?

It's probably the drive format that's the problem rather than the files - have a look at HFSExplorer: Catacombae - HFSExplorer (http://www.catacombae.org/hfsexplorer/)
