Hello fellow pilots.

I have the following license with the following expeired dates:

All UK EASA:

SEP (Land) 28/02/2017
MEP (Land) /SP 29/02/2016
IR-SP-ME class/SE 29/02/2016
ATR 42/72/IR 31/10/2016

My questions are as follows:

When i did my typerating in October 2015, should that have renewed my MEP and IR-SP-ME at the same time?

If i am focused on getting a job do i need to renew my MEP and IR-SP-ME anymore since i now have an ATR 42/72/IR rating?

In case i want to take a new typerating for example a 737NG is it enough with a current ATR 42/72 rating and an expired MEP and IR-SP-ME?

Please keep the answeres to the subject. :-)

Thank you for your kind help.

Sorry, how are your licences expired if you have a type rating? Have you not passed ATPL exams?

How can you expect to renew a multi engine PISTON rating and a SINGLE pilot IR by completing a turboprop multi crew type rating?

1) When i did my typerating in October 2015, should that have renewed my MEP and IR-ME SP at the same time?

As your IRSE+IRME SP was valid you didn't need to renew on that time. For enrolling your type rating you only need an IRME valid at start of the type rating course.
Nowaday, in EASA land you cannot renew an IRME without a valid class (MEP, MET) or type rating. Generally pilots are doing both at the same time. It saves time and cost..

2) If i am focused on getting a job do i need to renew my MEP and IR-SP-ME anymore since i now have an ATR 42/72/IR rating?

Depending on the job you are looking for. If you did an ATR type rating, you are going to look for a position as an ATR FO ??. On that case you don't need an IRME SP as ATR is a 2 flight crew aircraft.

In the case that a valid IRSE+ME SP can be required for a job.
For example, if an entreprise has an aviation department and uses these aircrafts for the travel of their employees they can require one pilot as long as the aircraft is certified single pilot aircraft (Piper PA 34 for example). But some are using 2 pilots (as safety pilot).

3) In case i want to take a new typerating for example a 737NG is it enough with a current ATR 42/72 rating and an expired MEP and IR-SP-ME?

Yes you can, as long as your ATR type rating is still valid at start of your 737 type rating course as you only need a valid IRME.

Are you sure about that?

I am pretty sure...
EASA Instrument rating IR(A) is always coupled with the class rating or the type rating of the specific aeroplane. The licence endorsment of the EASA instrument rating can be as follows:

multi-engine piston aeroplanes - MEP(Land)/IR
single-engine piston aeroplanes - SEP(Land)/IR
type rating (ATR 42/72) - ATR 42/72/IR

Is it not,
IR-SP-ME CLass/SE

And

MEP (land) SP

Two seperate ratings?

It's doesn't make sense >>> MEP (land) SP ...... Have you ever seen a MEP (land) Multi crew ??? if it's the case it's a type rating on the specific aircraft..
MEP is a class rating.. That's it !!

On your licence you have :

MEP (land) >> valid until.....
IRME Single pilot (except High performance aircraft) >>> valid until

I believe the DC6and DC7 as just two examples are Multi engine piston aircraft requiring multi crew.

In this case it's a DC6/ DC7 type rating as it's a multi crew aircraft.... you don't need a MEP as long as your IRME is valid for getting your type rating.

I did not say they do not require a type rating, I merely pointed out that you can have multi crew piston aircraft, as you had asked if anyone had seen such a thing.

I believe a valid IR is only required for an initial type rating.

Yes you can, as long as your ATR type rating is still valid at start of your 737 type rating course as you only need a valid IRME.

So this means that my ATR/IR rating for future use is valid as long as it is current, as a IRME?

Thank you for your kind and accurate explanation. ☺
