Aircraft reported as a380... I thought they got rid of their 6 airframe?

378 pax... A 777 would be more adequate here.

The decision to sell off was rescinded, and a 744 returned to service while the A380's go through the big check.
Their 777 fleet has been withdrawn due to lack of customer interest, they lost two many.

Don't know where you got the 282 figure but in my book it is more 314 to 451 depending on models and seating arrangement.

@Sultan: thanks, I did not realize that the plan was scrapped...

Seatguru, which is usually more accurate than Wikipedia with such things states 35 Business and 247 Economy for Malaysian = 282.

Took this flight on March 15th this year. {380} Lovely flight, superb staff. 330 pax outwards and 320 inwards. Wife and I had 4 seats each there and back. Very comfortable. I understood from the F/As that the 380s were being kept until 2018. Are some airlines finding them too big for purpose? I think Malaysian has ordered Airbus 350 to replace them.

The comments section in the article in the (ahem) Mail had a brilliant one along the lines of "Maybe it was moderate turbulence but the weight of the AA380 made it feel worse".

And this person is allowed a vote...
