Hi!

Any info on the T&C's for A330 captains? Salary, rosters, contract type, other perks like tickets etc.?

Also, would they accept a type-rated non-German national? I speak a little Deutsch, but not necessarily level 5 as they stipulate on their website...

You're rated A330, and can spell 'deutsch'? You're hired, for sure.
Salary is 6500 Euro before tax, which leaves you with around 4 k after tax, minus health insurance.
Be prepared to fly a lot, alternating Bangkok and Caribbean, good for your sleeping pattern.

CGN only for the A330, you need to speak german and then you have to pass the DLR and a SIM Check on a 737 done by LH guys who will fail you just because they can.

Sim checks at LH are just like at other professional airlines.
They are not looking for magenta children tho, but decision making and CRM.

I doubt the figures stated above, because a 3rd yr FO is making more €.

Wrong answer mate - they fail anybody they can, because they want to prevent , that external pilots join a LH group company, because so they can put pressure on the mngmt concerning raising there own terms and conds. Mngmt- who is trying to "dry out" the so called "KTV" "Konzern Tarif Vertrag"- is in a heavy conflict with them, and union politics is shifted to the sim screening. Unprofessional, sad , but true - its first hand info I got.

Makes sense what austrian71 ist posting here. Do know the LH attitude as well a bit and my impression about them is more or less the same.

All politics over there which will kill the entire "Konzern" earlier or later...

That was a bit 'tongue in cheek'. I think politics should not mix with simulator checks. All in all I don't think I'll bother. Looks like one can be caught up in a middle of a turf war and mistreated both by the company and the colleagues. I think I will leave flying the LH group airplanes to the 'professionals' :)

Yes it sounds rather unprofessional. How many aircraft do they have at the moment?

The roster and salar is indeed very low especially for FOs but they seem to pay for the rating if coming from the 737

There you see the problem. The 330s are operated by SunExpress Deutschland and the salary is their salary scale, but the assessment is done by LH, but only for the 330s, the 737 pilots still do the normal SXD assessment which is completely different.
So they want cheap pilots with very high standards which doesn't really work and in addition the LH pilots don't want them at all.
If you see that some of their flights have 2-3 days of delay, you can see that cheap isn't always the cheapest solution.
And at the moment they have Cpts on the A330 who have been flying around Germany on a Fokker 70 2 years ago, now crossing the atlantic in an A330 for less than 5k with a low hour FO. To compensate this, they hired TRI/TRE from AB, paying them 20K per month.

Make your own picture if that is a serous operation.


BTW it is not the first time that LH pilots make politics on Sim checks and it will not be the last time.

I never experienced a fair recruitment process in Germany, but always enjoyed one in other countries.

If you consider DLR and Sim checks not as aptitude tests but as selections for "the right people" you get the real picture.

@Brix, being german I have to agree. The attitude in german selection is usually a tests attitude rather than a "get to know each other".
German companies will test you if you fit into their profile, they have no intention to present themselves so you can decide if they fit into your profile.

In this case their requirements don't fit with the T&C they offer. In my opinion the way is very clear, in 1-2 years only pilots from the LH Group will operate those A330s.
