Hi all,
I am interested in a career in aircraft leasing. If anyone has experience in this field, can you please share some information and opinions? I am currently a second year college student majoring in finance. Are there opportunities to get into aircraft leasing straight out of college or through internships? I heard that most professionals in the field have a background in engineering. Can I break into it with a finance degree, but no aviation or engineering experience? If not, what credentials might make me better suited for this field of work? Not many lessors here in NY. CIT is one of few that I can think of. Any info about the leasing industry or something related will be appreciated.
Thank You,
Matt

For that industry you want a good finance background, which is what you're getting. There is an engineering/maintenance component associated with this field, but no need in starting over to go into engineering, unless you really want to get your A&P on the side(wouldn't hurt). These days a lot of it is out of Ireland, so check out- ie.indeed.com and look up aircraft leasing. Check out vast array of different positions and requirements to better understand what they do. Then, if I were you, I'd reach out to some of them for advice on breaking in. Worst case is that you get better knowledge on how to get in, and best case they offer you an internship or job when you're done with school. Good Luck!
