View Full Version : Help Me Understand: What will happen to Mainline Swissair and Sabena Pilots?

First, deepest sympathies to all pilots involved - it's a very difficult situation...

I have heard a lot of contradictory information lately - it's very confusing. I hear that Sabena will be restructed into "Sabena Lite" modelled after its regional subsidiary - DAT - and that it will operate mainly regional jets. Crossair will also play a more prominent role in the new national Swiss carrier... Although some Swissair international routes/aircraft may be retained.

Questions:

1. It's early, but how are mainline Sabena and Swissair expected to be affected by these changes?

2. Will former widebody A330 pilots transition to regional jets? Is that an appealing option for them?

3. What about current DAT and Crossair pilots - will they be bumped in favor of mainline pilots? What rights do they have?

4. How many mainline pilots are expected to be jobless?

I know there are a lot of unkowns at this point and that confusion reigns...

Best of luck to all involved!

1. 26 LH and 26 SH A/C will be iplemented
in Crossair operations. (target)SR has
actual 75 Aircrafts.

2. Its a possible option, bud NOT for me!
by the way, annyone needs an A330 F/O
(I know, wrong forum....)

3. Of course they want to fly the widebodys
(incl the salarys....)

4. They are talking about 365(!)
