Hi all,
Currently a B1/B2 engineer in Australia looking at getting an NZ Licence. After reading through the NZCAA website it seems like all i have to do is sit the Subject 20 Air Law Exam and do a few other forms. Can anyone give me any idea how difficult this exam is? I have read it is open book but there seems to be a lot of reference material!
Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers;

There are two exams, one written open book and the other oral. The reference material is merely a painful need to print out a shed load of ADs to take to the open book exam. You'd be best to try and borrow an up to date copy of the NZCAA rules. Updating an old copy can run pretty expensive. You can apply what is defined as "working bookmarks", similar to post it notes with quick references to relevant rules you would use in a working environment.
The oral is a test of your ability to find law references within the books you take with you.
If you have a good working knowledge of the Rules in Aus, you should be pretty able to transfer them to NZ. Rating privileges and applicability, dupes, MEL, difference between 43 and 145 were all extensively discussed when I sat them a few years back.
