Sent that to Dad (ex-605 Sqn), thought he might like it for old times sake, got the following reply:

Thanks for the offer but - I've already flown it on three occasions at Chivenor. That was sixty years ago so it must be clapped out by now!

Sadly, I suspect it is unlikely to remain in the UK, particularly in the post-Shoreham era. The other airworthy Vampire has already been sold to an operator in Jordan, and so we will probably lose another aircraft type from our skies.

Flew in it, for air experience of the visual circuit, when I was learning to be an Air Trafficker in '68 at Shawbury.

I've had one go in her myself. Fantastic fun. I'm currently trying to trace as many people who did it 'back in the day' as I can...
