Does anyone know how to get rid of HTML5 on Youtube and replace it back to flash.
It changed a few days ago, it's slow, the videos are blurry, HD no longer HD and seems restricted to 720p.
The videos seem to have a hazy softness.
Why do they keep changing these bl**dy things!!

Hi Bob,

What browser are you using? Different options for different browsers, I can point you in the right direction if you let me know (:

I'm using IE11.
Youtube have gone over to HTML5 it seems from about of the start of this week, which now restricts the quality of the videos that can be viewed in IE 11, I wonder why??
I could easily watch the 4k videos, after a fashion.
They have now removed that option, even 1080 has gone.
Are they trying to force users to other browsers.

I don't want any other browser IE11 works great.
I don't want Win 8.1 either or 10, 11 or whatever else they come up with.

Could you find a link to one suspect example?

Hi Bob,

For IE11, you can try running compatibility mode to see if it helps. IE11 is starting to go out of date now in Google's eyes, so be prepared to jump soon. Hope this helps for now though.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11

I can still use Free YouTube downloader to download higher res vids so that's ok for now.

So it seems the programmers aren't skilled enough to provide higher resolutions.
Or perhaps they don't think it's necessary if the majority are watching on phone, reduce bandwidth ?

Youtube limits to 720p under HTML5.
But I can download the 1080 version via YTD.

Bob,

Can you go the Settings/Tools on IE11, go to About Internet Explorer & find out what your exact version of 11 you have?

Version 11.0.9600.18282
Update version 11.0.30 (KB3148198)

Installed Firefox with ad on flash, can now see all resolutions, but why so much trouble.

Other than the red banner that pops up every you tube clip asking me to upgrade adobe flash, which is the latest anyway.

Could you post a picture of it? You might be able to get rid of it, depends on what it is.

Not correct. I'm running Ubuntu (so HTML5 only) and I can play 3D 4K...

crablab,

He is talking about IE11, and the issue on his computer when it changed from flash to HTML5. Care to read the thread..

Yes under Win7 IE11 about two weeks ago HTML5 became the default and no way to select Flash. It doesn't play well on my setup.
Compatibility mode as brought it back, but get a update adobe flash banner on every start of a video on Youtube.
I have the latest flash.

Care to understand - YouTube doesn't force 720p in HTML5.

I think you can force YT to Flash but I wouldn't guarantee that it will continue to be supported...
