Small airport in Eastern France, not far from Dijon

IG Avion have announced all flights to/from Dole are cancelled this summer -won't say why, just that it wasn't their choice. No proper reason appears on the web.

Something significant has presumably happened at this airport - anyone have any info ? I was assuming after Dijon losing its airport, the local Govt would be keen to keep Dole airport alive

AFAIK, the Dole-Jura region has decided to stop sinking money into subsidised flights. IGAvion will move on to where they can find the next goldmine - for 2016, it will be Angers.

If you're a French speaker or can stomach Google Translate, the best background (IMHO) on this dole-ful (sorry!) tale is from a local blogger who has been denouncing the waste of public funds on the airport for a few years. See e.g. here (http://jurapaysdeslacs.canalblog.com/archives/2015/02/11/31504841.html). He refers to a good article (http://www.lefigaro.fr/conjoncture/2015/02/11/20002-20150211ARTFIG00117-les-aeroports-de-dijon-et-dole-un-fiasco-a-grande-echelle.php) from Le Figaro which summarises the whole Dole vs Dijon debacle.

andy - please try to play nicely...

Does anyone know if Ryanair are affected by the same issue as IGAvion, or have they negotiated a contract over the airport and marketing fees which is much more difficult for the local Govt to terminate ?

Politics don't want to give more public money for Ryanair ?
Possible local politics fighting : Dole VS Dijon?
