Another incident in Indonesia? It shouldn't surprise anyone. I am surprised at the extent of the damage to the ATR though. Lucky that everyone got out unhurt. The question is how can any Lion-owned airline from not be blacklisted from international flying without having passed an extensive ICAO audit? The question of course is rhetorical, as we all know what the answer is. :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

Any why was it their fault? Far to early to be apportioning blame.

Also the ATR was under tow and empty.

It's always their fault!

Have you not seen the trend the years?

ZFT are you a line Pilot?
I seriously doubt this.

In my opinion;

I was impressed with the infrastructure of a large Indonesian airline when I visited.

Having flown with some Indo's truly shocked at their standards and ability. No CRM, no communication, not following SOP's, etc

Considering I was just there this last Saturday, a bit unnerving. Generally, I had good ATC services provided and noted nothing particularly unsafe about operations there, except the lack of a parallel taxiway does impose severe constraints on traffic handling due to backtracks and turnarounds. I suspect that this ground layout was a factor.

I beg to differ on your assessment of ATC services at WIHH and I've flown in and out of there over 50 times, some of those times under scheduled passenger service operations.

Well I fly in indo domestically and have personally been cleared for take off with a company 737 sitting with their nose on the runway side of the stop line after landing and not clearing the runway. Both the indo pilots here don't seem to know what clearing the runway is and also the tower controllers don't seem to know either. Most of my fellow pilots here have had similar occurances here on a regular basis.

I was cleared to land once with an ATR on the runway. We decided to go-around of course and let ATC get themselves composed. WIHH can indeed be quite a scary at times, had a Fokker 50 try and mount us one time to which ATC were oblivious, I gave up trying to explain the problem and just told them we were orbiting to position number 2 - thankfully we were visual with good vis, Jakarta smog can make life inordinately more difficult at times.

I had generally good service, but two times they asked me to expedite my taxi to the apron because they had landing traffic. The first time I told the controller that there would be no expediting anything and he should send the landing traffic around, which he did, as I was not about to heat my brakes up and lose eight tires because the traffic was not properly sequenced.

So, not a blanket endorsement of their services but I have had much, much worse.

LOL, not surprised at some of the stories here. We were flying the 24 ILS app, established on LOC and GS when ATC tells us we are 15nm off track! We got a bit confused, so I straight away checked ILS frequencies, GPS position and track, compass and then I asked the ATC controller to confirm what he had just said and that the radio call was meant for our aircraft reg. He started yelling at me to go-around and according to him I was 15nm left of track and yes it was for our a/c. Luckily at that moment we broke visual. Runway 24 was dead centre in front of us. I then told him, " yes I am left of LOC and my copilot is right of LOC are we are visual and actually finals 24". He changed his tone and cleared us to land.
